China Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS)
Publish: October 2024
Based on the ‘Voice of the Customer’, the VDS studies problems encountered by owners of new ICE vehicles within 13-48 months of ownership. The research is categorized by brand, model, and segment to analyze traditional product quality issues (manufacturing quality/malfunctions) and potential product quality issues (design defects related to ease of use). Compared to IQS, VDS focuses more on the malfunction problems encountered by car owners during long-term ownership, with these problems accounting for 65% of the total number of problems (40% in IQS). At the same time, VDS also examines critical design problems and the effects on NPS, helping OEM identify problems that are imperative to users during long-term ownership, which can help enhancing product competitiveness during the product life cycle.
