J.D. Power Observation: The Emergence of New Dream Vehicles in China'd Digital Age

The most important car intelligent interconnection technologies of consumers surveyed include: road safety monitoring, remote control, vehicle health monitoring, voice interaction and interactive entertainment

Shanghai, January 22, 2018 — The development of intelligent interconnected technologies is empowering and accelerating intelligent driving and human-computer interaction in the automotive field. Although more smart connected cars are still only confined to concepts and preliminary explorations at present, as a number of Internet and technology companies enter smart cars and smart operating systems, consumers are increasingly expecting smart connected cars.

The world's leading consumer insight and market research organization JD Power (Jun Di) today released the "2018 Chinese Consumer Intelligent Connected Car Cognition Survey." The survey results show that 91% of consumers surveyed will give priority to smart connected cars when buying new cars in the future. In terms of spending, more than half (51%) of the respondents are willing to spend an additional 20% of the full amount to buy smart connected cars, and nearly 40% (39%) consumers are willing to spend an additional 10% of the full amount.

Smart connected cars are the interaction of people, vehicles, roads, and infrastructure in four dimensions, not only relying on the update and upgrade of their own operating systems, but also in other aspects, such as upgrades in infrastructure construction, developed networks, perfect Internet of Things, and complete transportation systems Informatization, etc. The survey also found that the five smart connected technologies valued by Chinese consumers are: "road safety monitoring" (67%), "remote control" (62%), "vehicle health monitoring" (59%), and "voice" "Interactive" (55%) and "Interactive Entertainment" (27%).

Overall, Chinese consumers have a very positive attitude towards smart connected cars. 78% of the respondents said that when the intelligent interconnection technology is more mature, they are willing to accept artificial intelligence as their "driver" and "full of security", they think that the car is one of the best carriers of artificial intelligence technology application.

Jacob George, vice president of JD Power and general manager of the Asia Pacific region, said: "Intelligent interconnection will be one of the important directions for the future development of the automotive industry. The development and integration of technologies such as car networking, artificial intelligence and autonomous driving will be real "Smart connected" cars provide strong technical support. In addition, the upgrade and transformation of infrastructure will also be an important guarantee for the development and popularization of smart connected cars. The driving experience, driving safety, and human-computer interaction of consumers will all be A major change will take place, and human beings will be liberated from the car, triggering a new lifestyle change. This is another innovation in people's lifestyle after the smartphone. "

While expecting more convenience and fun from smart connected cars to driving life, consumers are not worrying about other issues. The survey found that close to 60% of consumers (59%) believe that with the development of technology, people will rely more on smart connected vehicles to judge road conditions and vehicle conditions in the future, rather than actively thinking. In addition, a considerable number of consumers (58%) believe that intelligent interconnection and unmanned driving will reduce human pursuit of car handling performance and make people gradually lose the fun of driving cars.
